I was born and raised in New York. Following my studies, I continued working in painting, installation, photography and occasionally video until 1994. I them moved to Europe, living in Prague, Ljubljana, Tuzla and Sarajevo. From 1994 until 1999 I worked mainly as a photojournalist for American newspapers and European and American press agencies. In 1998 I moved to Berlin and resumed working in Fine Arts. My recent works are based on documentary photography and video I have taken over the last 15 years. These in turn are changed, altered, often layered with text, code, narrative - usually found language-based material from the internet. My prints are often 'double dated' the first date is when the image was taken, the second refers to its current state of transformation. My recent video work combines my own footage with ‘text collages’ based on internet sources. In 2006, working with three art historians, I co-founded Art Laboratory Berlin, to curate exhibitions of contemporary art with an inter-disciplinary tendency. Our current project space opened in BerlinWedding in March 2007.
