Janine Eisenächer

Janine Eisenächer was born in 1983 in Strassfurt. She studies Theatre Studies and Comparative Literature at the Freie Universität, Berlin.
She works as performance artist in different fixed groups, mainly on thematic-conceptual series. Together with Joy Harder as Eisenächer/Harder CLAIMS, she explores possibilities for developing subversive strategies based on subjects from the field of ethnological research, such as the Brazilian concept of Antropofagia or the phenomenon of Cargo Cults in the South-Pacific. Within THE L.I.O.N. PROJECT, with the Swedish performer Iggy Malmborg, she creates performances on the theme civilisation, and investigates forms of resistance and ways to deal with one’s own borders.
As member of the Berlin research-artist-collective (e)at_work she develops group performances, interactive exhibitions and interventions on the relation between work and identity. Here, she concentrates on creating object and action based interview methods involving audiences in public space as well as within the art context.
Since the beginning of 2006, Eisenächer is founder member and performer in the Berlin network of the international theatre and performance-research-project @work: Emanuelle creates artistic forms such as performance lectures, video works, mindmaps and interview methods, applying them in symposiums and performances for a reflection of socialand political structures. In her current solo work, Eisenächer is concentrating on forms of imaginary voyages, gender-specific questions and economic structures within the process of the artistic work itself.
Further performance art activity of Janine Eisenächer is her work as curator for Performer Stammtisch, a self-organised performance artists-network in Berlin. And as tutor in the Berlin art association Flutgraben e.V. she investigates various organisational structures and forms of collaboration as models for contemporary and future artistic practice.
Her artistic practice can be described as performance-research/research-performance.
